What to write..!!!!

The biggest dilemma we encounter whenever we are ready to write.

We keep on staring at the paper or laptop for hours and hours and that blank screen or piece of paper haunts you until to relinquish writing for that day.

This is a very common problem among writers and even with professional writers.

You seem to lose ideas you keep on rambling in your mind for days and left with the blank paper or screen with indefinite glaring.

In search of result, you might have gone through many stories on how to write, what to write, how to be creative, how to form writing habit blah blah blah but you are still wondering the way out.

It’s not the solution suggested by many outstanding writers is inaccurate but accept the fact that every person is different and their explanation might not be suitable to you.

It’s not possible to always have an idea ready or know what you intend to write. Even sometimes freewriting does not help you too.

I have encountered the same situation and lost hours in peering at the screen. Even tried the solution suggested by many articles or books, but not a single one gives me a way out.

I never able to form a writing routine to write at a particular time of day, never write journals or never formed a reading habit as I am not that person who follows rules to improve.

With this section I will not give you a list of recommendation on how to write when you have no clue but I want to share my experience and the process I am using to overcome my block.

I write when I want to doesn’t matter the time, in a night when I am half sleep, when my sub-conscious mind is overlapping with my conscious mind.

This time my mind is floating in the ideas pool and having least resistance from a conscious mind. Whatever I feel like, I just jotted down on a sheet of paper or on my mobile device.

Next, I never write on a particular subject or niche. I don’t like to restrict myself to a particular niche, I always wanted to have vast horizon to express my views.

Also, whenever I am writing, I write a letter to my future self from 10 years today. And in a letter I write.

  • What is happening in the current era and what I am thinking about it like because of Covid-19 situation what challenges faced by common man and how it became the global crisis and what could be a potential solution according to me.
  • Sometime I write a story about any incident in a day and fantasied it with new characters. That’s my way to write short-stories.
  • I explain the problems I am facing and solution I think would be best. This is the best way I found to dump all my problems from conscious and from sub-conscious mind and even sometime you get the solution you are looking for.

Using the method I listed out all my thoughts trapped in my subconscious mind, which conscious mind thinks stupid.

Once I filed all my thoughts, next few days I work on polishing my story by revising and editing.

This article is an example of method I am using where I wrote a letter to my future self at 1:00AM in night about the problem I am facing while writing and how I can get a solution for problem.

My way is a little out of a box from general writing advice, but it is effective in my case. But I can feel my content is improving day by day and so has my creative thinking.

I hope this article helps you to find your solution.

Please let me know if you have any feedback.
